Foresters remove some of them to let the most promising ones grow and become the timber for our homes and furniture.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This silvicultural operation is called a \u00abthinning\u00bb and specifically aims to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Promote growth<\/strong>The selected trees benefit from more resources to grow in volume and quality.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select the best<\/strong>Weak, diseased, misshapen, or poorly sited trees are removed, leaving only the most promising ones (trees of the future). Foresters intervene with small touches, respecting the natural atmosphere of the forest and its inhabitants.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, foresters carefully select the trees to be felled through an operation called \u00ab<strong>hammering<\/strong>which consists of marking the chosen trees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, it's a targeted intervention to sculpt the forest and ensure that the trees which reach maturity will be of the best possible quality, thus optimising timber production and the maintenance of a forest atmosphere.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-content-justification-center is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-35e816eb wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\">\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-grey-color-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-grey-color-background-color has-background wp-container-content-759e20a8\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large wp-container-content-e1bb55cb\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/srfb.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/intro_offrez-vous.png\" alt=\"treat yourself\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-grey-color-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-grey-color-background-color has-background wp-container-content-759e20a8\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"\/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Spotlight on the new arrivals!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This clearing also encourages the arrival of young trees that will ensure the future of the forest, accompanied by flowers and small animals that love the sun.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The removal of certain trees also allows light to enter the stand, benefiting the seedlings present under the canopy. The duration of a rotation depends on the species, the stand structure, and the type of silviculture.
