Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Continuous cover mixed silviculture (CCMS) is a silvicultural strategy whose aim is to produce quality timber while minimising investment and ensuring all the other functions of the forest. This type of silviculture is essentially based on the use of natural processes, which are supported by targeted actions. The aim is to maintain the continuity of the canopy (avoiding clear-cutting) and to make maximum use of natural regeneration (although planting is not ruled out).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day will be devoted to discovering the SMCC and is intended for beginners. During a visit to a property that is partly managed under the CMCC system, we will look at various concepts (targeted regeneration work, irregular hammering, designation of objective trees, light management, diversification through planting, etc.). Several practical exercises on these different subjects will be proposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
